Services

What we do, in plain language.

Six core services. Each one stands on its own, each one feeds into the same goal: a range that holds up when an inspector, a carrier, or a court actually looks at it.

01 · Core Service

SDZ Mapping & Documentation

The Surface Danger Zone is the area where a projectile could realistically end up given the weapon, caliber, elevation, and how the range is laid out. We map it using professional GIS software with real terrain data, not a sketch on graph paper.

  • Multi-firing-point capable. Each firing position modeled separately, then combined into one composite envelope showing the full hazard footprint.
  • Static and movement SDZs. Different calibers, different positions, modeled correctly for each scenario you actually use.
  • Real terrain in the model. Slope, elevation change, ricochet behavior, all factored in. Not a flat assumption.
  • On-site assessment included. Paper data only tells part of the story. We walk the property to catch what the GIS won't.

What you get

  • Geo-referenced SDZ map files (compatible with most GIS programs)
  • Printable PDF maps formatted for carrier or inspector submission
  • Written analysis explaining the model, the assumptions, and the findings
  • One-page executive summary for board members or insurance underwriters
02 · Assessment

Range Safety Assessment

A walk-through of your facility focused on what's actually happening on the ground. Berms, backstops, lateral containment, firing line setup, traffic flow, signage, line-of-sight, the works. Findings are documented with priority levels so your team knows what to fix first.

  • Physical inspection. Each firing position, each backstop, each lane. Photos and notes documented.
  • Operational review. How shooters move, how RSOs control the floor, what happens when something goes wrong.
  • Comparison to industry standards. NRA Range Source Book, NSSF guidelines, applicable state regulations.
  • Prioritized findings. What's critical, what's important, what's nice to have. No padded list.

What you get

  • Written assessment report with photos and specific locations
  • Prioritized list of findings (Critical / Important / Recommended)
  • Specific corrective actions with estimated effort and cost ranges
  • One-page summary suitable for sharing with a board or insurer
  • Follow-up call to walk through the report and answer questions
03 · Infrastructure

Berm & Backstop Design Review

Berms and backstops are the difference between contained shooting and a problem on the next property. We evaluate existing infrastructure against the calibers and angles you actually shoot. For new construction or expansions, we review plans before you break ground.

  • Existing berm review. Height, slope, composition, condition. Whether it's still doing the job for the calibers you allow.
  • New construction review. Plans evaluated against weapon systems, range layout, and growth plans before construction starts.
  • Lateral containment. Side berms and lane separation evaluated for the actual firing angles in use.
  • Erosion and maintenance. Realistic recommendations on what to maintain, how often, and what to watch for.

What you get

  • Written evaluation of existing infrastructure with photos
  • Specific recommendations for repair, modification, or rebuild
  • Pre-construction review of new range plans (when applicable)
  • Cost-of-inaction summary that boards and insurers actually read
04 · Operations

SOP Development

Standard Operating Procedures written around your facility, not pulled from a generic template. Hot range and cold range protocols, caliber controls, RSO responsibilities, emergency response. Plain English, usable in the moment, defensible after the fact.

  • Built around your range. Your firing positions, your calibers, your hours, your staffing model. Not a template with your name pasted in.
  • Range commands and protocols. Clear procedures for hot/cold transitions, downrange access, ceasefires, emergencies.
  • Caliber controls. Approved calibers, restricted positions, safe load and unload procedures.
  • Emergency response. Medical, evacuation, security incidents. Roles, contacts, escalation.

What you get

  • Complete SOP document tailored to your facility
  • Quick-reference card versions for posting at firing line and RSO station
  • Editable source files so your team can update as things change
  • Annual review built in if you stay on for ongoing monitoring
05 · Ongoing

Recurring Range Monitoring

Annual or semi-annual reviews to catch infrastructure issues, document operational changes, and keep your safety program current. Especially valuable when you add calibers, change firing positions, or expand the facility.

  • Scheduled review cycle. Annual or semi-annual depending on volume and risk profile.
  • Changes captured. Anything new since the last review (calibers, positions, expansion) gets documented properly.
  • SDZ refresh if needed. Big changes trigger a re-mapping. Small changes get noted.
  • Documentation kept current. Insurance carriers want recent documentation. We make sure you have it.

What you get

  • Scheduled review with site visit and report
  • Updated documentation reflecting any changes
  • Direct line for questions between visits
  • Renewal-ready documentation packet for insurance carriers
06 · Private Land

Private Landowner Services

For people building or running a private range on their own property. SDZ mapping for safe firing lane design. Useful for insurance, for documentation if a neighbor complaint comes up, and for peace of mind that you actually know where rounds end up.

  • Property-specific SDZ. Map of where rounds can realistically travel given your terrain and what you're shooting.
  • Safe firing lane recommendations. Where to set up firing positions and target placement for your specific land.
  • Documentation for insurance and records. Useful if you ever need to demonstrate due diligence.
  • Neighbor and easement awareness. Understanding of how your firing zone interacts with adjacent properties.

What you get

  • Property-specific SDZ map with your terrain
  • Recommended firing lanes and target placement
  • Written documentation for insurance and personal records
  • Plain-language summary you can share with insurers or neighbors if needed
